Popocatépetl Volcano, Mexico
Popocatépetl, situated in central Mexico across the states of Puebla, Morelos, and Mexico, is an active stratovolcano positioned in the eastern section of the Trans-Mexican volcanic belt. With an elevation of 5,393 meters, it stands as the second-highest peak in Mexico, following Citlaltépetl, which reaches 5,636 meters. The volcano is connected to its northern counterpart, Iztaccihuatl, by the elevated passage known as the “Paso de Cortés.”
